COME ON A JOURNEY WITH
​MDN THEATRE!!!
Attending a theatre field trip provides students with a live and immersive cultural experience that goes beyond textbooks, stages, and screens. It allows them to witness the magic of storytelling, fostering an appreciation for the performing arts while enhancing their creativity and understanding of human expression.

AZ STATE THESPIAN FESTIVAL
The Arizona Thespian Festival is an intense, two-day theatre festival for high school students. This Festival features events that stress performance and technical skills. It is sponsored by Arizona State Thespians. Events, with the exception of Tech Challenge, are non-competitive giving ratings (as opposed to rankings), so designed to be an enjoyable learning experience for all participants. This two- day Festival serves as the qualifier for the International Thespian Festival regarding One Act Plays (Chapter Select Showcase). At this State Festival, schools may enter one student per Individual and Tech Event. Exceptions are Group Musicals, Group Acting and Reader’s Theatre. Schools may enter a single One Act, one Group Musical, one Group Acting and one Reader’s Theatre. 
Conference January 19th & 20th
  • The State Festival is held at the Phoenix Civic Plaza, downtown Phoenix. 
  • Bus transportation will be provided.
  • Hotel is provided.  We will be staying at the Hyatt Downtown Phoenix
  • The Arizona State Thespian Festival is two full days of professional workshops; University and Conservatory opportunities and information; special performances by the State's finest, the latest and greatest in technology; networking; and a whole lot of fantastic fun!

HOLLYWOOD FIELD TRIP

The Hollywood Trip is designed to give students an opportunity to experience professional theatre, film and television in a national theatrical center.  Students will see shows that they cannot see in Arizona, explore the town where so many professionals work to create exciting new theatre, and learn directly from those professionals.  In addition, this trip serves to strengthen our Marcos de Niza High School theatre community by allowing students from different classes to share a unique experience without the competition of extra-curricular productions.   ​

  •     COST: The cost will be $1350 and tax credit will be accepted! Sign up by October 22nd
  •     WHO: All Theatre students at Marcos de Niza & Mountain Pointe High School in good academic standing

​WHAT WILL WE BE SEEING ON OUR TRIP
This year we are attending Six at Pantages, Groundling Improv Workshop, Warner Bros Studios, Disneyland, Ripley's Believe It or Not!, Madame Tussauds, The Getty Villa, and much more!

Price will include transportation, hotel, theatre tickets, and fees for all museums and workshops.

What is AVL Expo?
The AVL Expo is Arizona's largest showcase for Audio, Video, and Lighting (AVL) technology, hosted by Clearwing. This event brings together over 100 leading manufacturers to present the latest in audio, video, lighting, staging, and special effects technology.

For technical theatre and production students, this is an incredible opportunity to:

  • Learn from Experts: Attend workshops and presentations led by industry professionals.
  • Network: Meet potential employers and industry professionals.

Participants: All theatre students at MDN. Theatre students will attend the Broadway-style musical &Juliet at ASU Gammage. Tickets are already covered and include admission to the show as well as a post-show actor talkback, offering students a unique opportunity to engage with the performers and gain insight into the production process. Students will depart from MDN at noon and return by 6:30 PM.
Summary
&Juliet is a vibrant, jukebox musical that reimagines the classic tale of Romeo and Juliet. In this version, Juliet survives the tragic ending and embarks on a journey of self-discovery and empowerment. Set to a soundtrack of iconic pop hits by Max Martin—including songs by Britney Spears, Katy Perry, and *NSYNC—the show blends Shakespearean elements with contemporary pop culture, delivering a high-energy and entertaining experience.
